Box Office Round-up
Lilo & Stitch stayed in the top spot, adding £6.1m on its second weekend, down just 23% from last weekend. That takes its total after 12 days in cinemas to £25.9m and it’s now the third biggest film of 2025, having overtaken Mufasa: The Lion King. The big Disney live-action release in 2023 was The Little Mermaid, which finished its run with £27.4m, so Lilo & Stitch is going to fly past that this week.
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning stayed second with £3.5m, down 44% from last weekend. That takes its total to £17.4m, which makes it the sixth biggest film of 2025 to date. In terms of Mission: Impossible films it is now the sixth highest grossing of the eight films, having overtaken Mission: Impossible 2 (£17.3m) and next up is Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (£18.5m). Dead Reckoning finished its run with £26.6m, a series best, so that’s the target for The Final Reckoning.
Karate Kid: Legends opened in third with £2.6m which includes £920k from Wednesday and Thursday previews. The last film in the Karate Kid series, 2010’s Karate Kid, starring Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith, opened with £4.9m and finished with £12.4m, so this new iteration hasn’t had quite the same impact but it’s up against some pretty stiff competition.
The Salt Path is a breakout success, opening with £1.5m, which includes £82k from previews. Two years ago The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry opened with £789k and finished its run with £3.4m, so The Salt Path has to be looking at a total well north of that.
Peppa Meets The Baby Cinema Experience rounded out the top five, opening with £1.1m. This is the fifth Peppa Pig title to hit cinemas, and it has opened the strongest too, just surpassing the £1.1m Peppa Pig: My First Cinema Experience opened with in 2017. That film finished on £3.7m, so hopefully Peppa Meets The Baby can top that too.
Outside of the top five, the two episode finale of Doctor Who was screened in cinemas and grossed £382k, which was enough for eighth. Both Thunderbolts* and Sinners have crossed the £15m mark in ninth and 10th.
Next Weekend
Ballerina is a spin-off from the John Wick series. Ana de Armas stars as an assassin trained in the traditions of the Ruska Roma organization who sets out to seek revenge after her father's death.
Clown In A Cornfield is a comedy-horror set in a fading midwestern town in which Frendo the clown, a symbol of bygone success, reemerges as a terrifying scourge.
Dangerous Animals is a thriller starring Jai Courtney. When Zephyr, a savvy and free-spirited surfer, is abducted by a shark-obsessed serial killer (Courtney) and held captive on his boat, she must figure out how to escape before he carries out a ritualistic feeding to the sharks below.
Housefull 5 is the fifth film in the popular Bollywood comedy series.
The Buzz
Good Fortune is a brand new comedy from writer-director-star Aziz Ansari (television’s Parks & Recreation). Keanu Reeves stars a well-meaning but rather inept angel named Gabriel who meddles in the lives of a struggling gig worker (Ansari) and a wealthy venture capitalist (Seth Rogen). Keke Palmer and Sandra Oh are also part of an excellent comedy cast, and it should be one of the funniest films of 2025, perfect for 16-34s. It’s in cinemas on 17 October.
Across The Pond
Lilo & Stitch held on to the top spot, adding $63m for a new total of $280.1m. Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning stayed in second adding $27.3m for a new total of $122.6m. Karate Kid: Legends opened in third with $21m, and Final Destination added $10.8m in fourth for a new total of $111.7m. Bring Her Back opened in fifth with $7.1m.
